Best Outdoor Saunas: How to Compare Models on Their Spec Sheets
We may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it doesn't change what we list or how we describe it. How this works
There is no single best outdoor sauna, and we haven’t tested any. What you can compare is what each maker publishes: the interior size behind the seat count, the heater’s kW and amp draw, the wall wood and its thickness, the warranty, the delivery terms and the listed price. Below are eight real outdoor saunas from six companies, side by side, using only their own product pages as of November 1, 2026. Pick the two or three that fit your yard, your panel and your budget, then ask each seller the questions at the end.
How we compare outdoor saunas
Rows are ordered by type, then by regular listed price, low to high, for the base configuration. Several sellers ran sales when we checked (Sweat Kingdom’s Black Friday sale “ENDS NOVEMBER 30!”), so the sale price is shown beside the regular one. Prices change. The criteria, in the order we’d check them:
- Interior size, not seat count. Redwood Outdoors, for example, lists its 6-person barrel as “Up to 6 People” and “Spacious For 4 People.” Fixr says seating “should allow two feet for each person to sit comfortably or six feet if you want to recline.”
- Heater kW against room volume. Harvia’s guidance is that “an average of 1 kW of heater power is required per cubic meter of sauna volume” (35.3 cubic feet), and that “the need for power increases if the sauna has window or glass surfaces.” Our sauna calculator does the volume math.
- Amps, which set the breaker and wire size your electrician will need; then wall wood and thickness, warranty and delivery terms.
Barrel saunas compared
| Model (listing) | Seats (listing’s words) | Interior | Heater as listed | Walls | Listed price, Nov 1, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Redwood Outdoors Barrel Outdoor Sauna - 6 Person | “Up to 6 People,” “Spacious For 4 People” | 5’-9¼” W × 5’-4⅛” L × 5’-7¾” H; 140 cu. ft. | 6 kW Harvia KIP; 30 A breaker for the 6 kW KIP | Canadian heat-treated hemlock, 1½” | $6,299 ($5,299 on sale); “Currently Out of Stock” |
| Almost Heaven Pinnacle 4 Person Barrel | “Holds up to four people” | 75¼” W × 63¼” D × 69¼” H | 6 kW, 240 V, 30-amp, hard-wired | Cedar, natural or Onyx finish (Almost Heaven’s FAQ says Onyx is “Stained Hemfir”), 1⅜” | $7,575 ($6,060 on sale) |
| LeisureCraft Canadian Timber Harmony | “Comfortably Seats 4 People” (description: “seating for 2-4 people”) | 83” W × 71” D × 79” H; 222 ft³ | Recommended electric heater 6 kW; wood heater available | Eastern white cedar | No price on the maker’s site (“Request Price” through a local dealer) |
None of the three barrel listings describes a separate insulation layer. Almost Heaven’s page says its barrels “are built from high-grade softwoods, which is naturally insulating.” For how the round shape changes the volume you heat, see barrel vs cabin saunas.
Cabin and cube saunas compared
Watch two things here: the Sweat Cabin page gives no interior dimensions, so ask; and Almost Heaven’s cube says four people in one place and 4–6 in another. The interior numbers settle it.
| Model (listing) | Seats (listing’s words) | Interior | Heater as listed | Walls | Listed price, Nov 1, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Redwood Outdoors Cabin Outdoor Sauna - 4 Person | “4 People,” “Spacious For 3 People” | 4’-8” W × 5’-7” L × 6’-6⅛” H; 169.6 cu. ft. | 6 kW Harvia KIP; 30 A breaker for the 6 kW KIP | Canadian heat-treated hemlock, 1½” | $7,299 ($6,299 on sale); “Currently Out of Stock” |
| Sweat Kingdom Sweat Cabin (4 Person) | “up to 4 people” | Not listed; exterior 77” H × 72½” D × 72” W (6-foot walls) | Harvia KIP 8 kW standard (no breaker listed); 50 A breaker listed for the 9 kW Homecraft Revive option | Red cedar | $8,195 ($7,445 on sale) |
| Almost Heaven Blackwater 4 Person Cube | “Designed for up to four people”; spec line says “Holds 4-6 people” | 79⅝” W × 63¼” D × 79⅝” H | 9 kW, 240 V, 45-amp, hard-wired | Cedar, natural or Onyx finish (Onyx is “Stained Hemfir,” per the FAQ), 1⅜” | $14,085 ($11,268 on sale) |
Outdoor infrared models
Infrared saunas heat with panels instead of a stove and rocks (infrared vs traditional). Two outdoor models:
| Model (listing) | Interior | Power as listed | Walls | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peak Saunas Patagonia (2 person) | 44” W × 38” D × 77” H | 240 V / 20 A / 3,350 W; “dedicated outdoor-rated circuit required” (NEMA L6-20P), “electrician required” | Aluminum exterior, Canadian hemlock interior | “$13,995 list price” ($10,950 on sale) |
| Clearlight Sanctuary Outdoor 2 | 50½” W × 47” D × 71½” H | 240 V, 2,320 W, 9.7 A; plugs into a 240 V outlet (NEMA 6-15P) | DriftwoodTec exterior finish, mahogany interior | Not listed; “Get Pricing” |
Heater and electrical specs side by side
Almost Heaven lists 30 A for its 6 kW heater and 45 A for its 9 kW heater, both hard-wired. Redwood lists a 30 A breaker for its 6 kW KIP. Sweat Kingdom lists a 50 A breaker for the 9 kW Homecraft option but no breaker for the standard 8 kW KIP, and LeisureCraft lists none, so ask. On the infrared side, Clearlight lists a 9.7 A draw on a 240 V plug-in, and Peak lists a dedicated 20 A circuit. A licensed electrician confirms the circuit against the heater’s manual and pulls the permit; sauna electrical requirements covers what to ask, including cost.
Check heater size against the room, too. By Harvia’s 1 kW per cubic meter rule, the Redwood barrel’s 140 cu. ft. (about 4.0 m³) and the Redwood Cabin’s 169.6 cu. ft. (about 4.8 m³) work out to roughly 4–5 kW before glass is counted (our arithmetic); both come with a 6 kW KIP. Harvia’s page for a different 6 kW heater, the Spirit SP60E, lists a room volume of 5.01–8.33 m³ (about 177–294 cu. ft.). Ask the seller which room-volume range the included heater’s manual gives.
Some of these can take a wood-burning stove (LeisureCraft lists “Wood Heater Available”; Almost Heaven’s cube page says its wood-heater kit needs a protective sheath “to meet safety clearances”). With wood, follow the stove manual and your local building code for clearances and the chimney, and ask your building department whether you need a permit.
Warranty and delivery terms
| Seller | Warranty (listing’s words) | Delivery and lead time (listing) | Assembly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Almost Heaven | “Limited Lifetime Warranty covering manufacturing defects”; Harvia heaters 1 year on elements, 5 years on other components | Pinnacle barrel ships “within 6-8 weeks”; Blackwater cube “within 8-12 weeks” | Professional installation “starting at $1,400” |
| Redwood Outdoors | “1-year limited warranty”; Harvia heaters 1 year on elements, 5 years on other components | Wooden crate, curbside delivery, “appointment required” | Kit (“Easy-to-assemble sauna kit”) |
| Sweat Kingdom | “3-Year Warranty”; 30-day trial | “5-week lead time”; October–December orders “may take longer” | Kit, “Some Assembly Required” |
| LeisureCraft | “All sauna packages come with a 5-year warranty” | Through local dealers | Kit (“Easy Assembly”) |
| Clearlight | “Lifetime warranty” | Shipping included in the price, per the listing (checked Nov 2, 2026; no other delivery details on the product page); ask for the delivered price | Not stated on the product page |
| Peak Saunas | “7-year limited warranty” | Curbside delivery in the contiguous U.S. included, per the listing | Optional professional assembly, listed at $2,333 ($1,750 in a Black Friday sale, no end date shown; checked Nov 2, 2026) |
Read the full warranty. Fixr notes many name-brand prefab saunas “carry a lifetime warranty as long as the sauna is professionally installed,” and calls it wise to hire a pro so you “don’t void your warranty.” Curbside delivery also means the crate stops at the curb, and these are heavy: Redwood lists its 4-person Cabin at 1,150 lbs.
What to ask the seller before you buy
- Interior dimensions, if the listing skips them.
- The room-volume range and breaker size in the heater’s manual.
- What the warranty excludes, and whether DIY assembly affects it.
- What’s in the box (heater, stones, roof, floor) and the delivered price to your ZIP code.
For the full budget, including the base and the circuit, see outdoor sauna cost.

Safety and permits
A sauna heater needs its own circuit sized to the maker's manual — have a licensed electrician wire it and pull the permit. Wood-burning stoves need the clearances and chimney in the stove's manual and local code approval. Before digging for a foundation, call 811. This site doesn't give medical advice: if you're pregnant or have a health condition, ask your doctor before using a sauna.
